Richmond Hood Company Ignites Staten Island with Epic Go Skateboarding Day Block Party: 300+ Celebrate Skate Culture, Art, Music & Community

STATEN ISLAND, NY – June 22, 2025 – Castleton Avenue erupted with vibrant energy on Saturday, June 21st, 2025, as Richmond Hood Company hosted an unforgettable Go Skateboarding Day Block Party right outside its storefront. Drawing over 300 attendees throughout the day, the event transformed the street into a dynamic hub of skate culture, street art, live music, and community spirit, attracting visitors from across the borough and as far away as Switzerland, Germany, Chicago, and Virginia.

The block party offered non-stop action and creativity for all ages:

  • Skateboarding: Riders of all skill levels shredded ramps and manny pads set up on Castleton Ave. The non-profit Skate To Elevate provided FREE skateboard lessons, inspiring a wave of new young skaters.

  • Urban Art: Pressure Paint brought their renowned Art Truck, letting kids legally unleash their creativity on a massive 26-foot box truck. Adding to the visual feast, an immersive Art Fence, expertly programmed by Juthy from The Culture Concierge, provided another dynamic canvas for expression.

  • Live Music: The soundtrack for the day was curated by Live Sounds, Ice Box, and Saviir, keeping the energy high with diverse beats that pulsed through the crowd.

  • Star Power: Inside Richmond Hood Company, legendary hip-hop icon REDMAN hosted a packed meet-and-greet, adding major star power to the local celebration.

The festivities began with a touch of mindful serenity thanks to community partner Community Activate. They hosted a Summer Solstice Sound Bath on the scenic lawn of Saint Mary's Episcopal Church (corner of Davis & Castleton Aves), sending positive vibrations across the neighborhood to start the day intentionally.

"This Block Party was the ultimate expression of Staten Island's diverse energy," said Mr.Tariq from Richmond Hood Company. "Seeing skaters of all levels, kids getting their first lesson, families creating art on the truck, fans connecting with REDMAN, and the whole block moving to incredible music vibes – it was pure magic. The turnout, including international guests, exceeded our wildest hopes. This is authentic community connection."

Part One of a Summer Celebration: This vibrant Block Party marked the exciting kick-off of a two-weekend summer celebration presented in partnership with the Staten Island Business Outreach Center (SIBOC), promising more community-focused events to come.
