To be clear about our position: We don’t believe all cops are bad. In fact, some of our closest friends are police officers—most of whom are awesome people who excel at their jobs. But while there are good individuals on the force, there are also those who are aggressive, abusive, arrogant, or racist.
When we talk about "ACAB," we mean: Aggressive Cops Are Bastards. Abusive Cops Are Bastards. Arrogant Cops Are Bastards. You really can't argue with that!
This isn't about individual race, either. There are plenty of Black and brown officers who abuse their power, and plenty of white officers who don't. The real issue is systemic: 100% of police departments still function under a framework designed by white supremacy. It’s how the system was built, and that’s what we are fighting to change.
